My Birth Plan (Editable PDF Included)
A few weeks before I gave birth, I shared my birth plan on my IG stories. I had to cover some of the stuff up because well, opinions… (which I find so fascinating) BUT, I still get messages to this day asking if I could re-share. All opinions aside, I know how overwhelming this process can be. I’m sharing because I was LOST as to what to include in my birth plan, and I know how helpful this would have been for me when initially putting together mine.
Before I share, I need to remind y’all of one thing, and I mentioned this in my last post: My Hospital Bag: What I Packed vs. What I Actually Used! 🤰🏻
What works for me, might not work for you. What I’m not comfortable with, you might be totally fine with. YOU DO YOU. … and this is why birth plans are great! The point of a birth plan is to be upfront and direct what what YOU want and what you’re comfortable with.
… because everyone’s needs and desires are different.
You obviously have to be flexible given the unpredictability of birth, but it’s great to have a plan in place for your “ideal” birthing experience.
A lot of what I included is pretty standard for most hospitals, but I still felt more comfortable putting it all down on paper. Hospitals tend to stick to their “policies” and “standard protocol”, which is understandable… but this doesn’t mean it has to be for you. This is why it’s important to do your research and know your rights/what you’re comfortable with ahead of time. It’s your body, YOUR labor, and you always have a say. Remember that!
I included an EDITABLE document so you can tweak to your liking & print copies to bring with you for your delivery team.
This birth plan was put together from the help of my sisters, friends + my doula.
