My Top 10 Most Used Newborn Items

Ok, Wilder is 4 months old, so we’ve officially made it out of the newborn stage (alive, yay!).

All I can say is WOW, the first couple months are a whirlwind.

It’s beautiful and confusing and exhausting and amazing all at the same time.

Mama is recovering… dad is attempting to help… baby is like “where am I? Who am I?”, and we’re all just trying to figure out this new life together (with very little sleep).

As first time parents, we have certainly taken on the concept of: just learn as you go. It’s truly impossible to “prepare” perfectly for a baby. Sure you can read the books and watch the videos, but it’s not until your babe comes into this world when you fully realize that the curveballs are constant and the learning is endless.

I will say, the more I’ve loosed the grip of control over the unknowns of motherhood, the more I’ve enjoyed it!

We are taking it one day at a time, and simply figuring it all out as each day goes on. Amazon, Uber Eat, Instacart and Google search have been our best friends over the past few months.

With that said, we discovered some GEMS of products that have made our lives so much easier during this time. I wanted to do a little roundup of our top 10 just in case this can help any other mama’s out there during this challenging (and incredible) time!

My Top 10 Most Used Newborn Items 👇🏼

  1. Mamaroo: I’m not sure what we would have done without it. Whenever he wasn’t sleeping in my arms, he was in here.

  2. Medicine Pacifier: to help give any liquid medicine like Gripe Water, Tylenol, etc. We didn’t think we’d need this because we didn’t anticipate giving him “medicine”, but Gripe Water Nighttime is sent from above and we use it like… a lot.

  3. Flip Design Nightlight: I have 3 of these! One on either nightstand and also by the changing table. They are SO convenient for night feedings. Simply flip over to turn off/on & press down to dim.

  4. Glow in the Dark Paci’s: searching for a paci in the pitch dark is hard… this allows for easy findings in the middle of the night.

  5. Portable Sound Machine: this one is probably an obvious, but I included on the list because it’s an absolute necessity! We bought multiple to have around the apartment. I’ll link the ones we use below, they are cheap and effective.

  6. Keekaro Peanut Changing Table: my sister handed this down to me! Not only is it a perfect neutral color to go in any nursery, it’s SO easy to clean. I underestimated the amount of messes that would occur on the changing table— and this has been amazing to have.

  7. Stroller Fan: we have 2 clipped to Wilders stroller at all times! The heat is sometimes inevitable if you’re out and about, and these fans will help keep your baby cool.

  8. Blooming Bath Lotus: My friend Chelsi gifted this to me from my registry! It’s really convenient for sink baths. It’s plush, soft, warm & really cute. Simply ring it out & hang up in the shower to dry.

  9. Dr. Browns Anti-Colic Bottles: we didn’t get these until about 2 months in, and I truly regret not getting them sooner. We tried EVERY bottle out there, and once we switched to these bottles, he was a different baby. Poor guy never latched properly because of his tongue ties, so he took in a lot of air when he drank, causing gas pains. These bottles helped alleviate that issue almost immediately.

  10. Backseat Baby Car Camera: OK, will a simple mirror behind the seat work just fine? Absolutely. HOWEVER, I found that I was constantly turning around to check on him, because I couldn’t see him clearly in the rearview mirror. This is obviously super dangerous when driving and I hated that I had to constantly turn around. Someone suggested this camera, and I’m very happy I got it. it’s so easy to just glance at the screen! The picture is crisp & clear to see your bubs perfectly.

Honorable mentions:

Gripe Water Nighttime (HOLY GRAIL), Frida Windi, Muslin Cloths (a lot!), BabyBjorn Bouncer & my Elvie Hands-Free Pumps.
