Solo in Sin City: VEGAS
Ahh Vegas. There’s really nowhere in the world quite like it. There’s an intoxicating energy in the air that makes you feel alive and ready to take on everything the city has to offer. You feel it as soon as you arrive at your hotel. HEY VEGAS HOTELS, if you’re reading this, I’m on to you. I swear they pump crack/cocaine in Febreeze form into the air… or something like that. I mean I’m not complaining, but the energy really is palpable.
When I got to my hotel, I dropped off my bags and went to explore.
First stop: casino, duh. I’m not a big gambler but when in Vegas, you gotta give the slots and tables some lovin’. My amateur eyes scanned the casino for the most legit looking game… I plopped down at the Sex and the City machine (go figure), fed it a $100 bill and lost it within 5 minutes.
I picked up my ego and my $.05 voucher and shuffled along to explore some more:
I have to say, going to Vegas alone is interesting. The guy to girl ratio is out of control, and most of these playboys are on a mission.
Fun fact: I wore a fake wedding ring in hopes that I wouldn't be bothered… LOL nice try JenJen. Boys will be boys and Vegas holds a rep for the crème de la crème of them.
Eating alone was the weirdest part of it all. I live alone so I’m use to my own company, but I never eat-out alone... that’s a little weird. However I’m a massive foodie and fine dining is my weakness (sorry future hubby), so I decided to take advantage of the trip and made reservations for some of the best restaurants on the strip.
“Ms. Saviano, would you like a newspaper or something?..... no I'm good thanks” “We can’t seat you unless your whole party is here.... it's just me, party's here.” “Hey do you want to come sit with us?... I'm ok” “Ms. Saviano, the party at the table over there sent you this drink”
OK OK I GET IT I’M ALONE! But I swallowed my pride and enjoyed the hell out of all the great restaurants.
A few of my faves that you most definitely should check out:
Dinner/sushi: Sushisamba in the Venetian. Short story: My last night in town, I got dolled up and headed to Sushisamba in the Venetian for dinner. I was enjoying my wine at the bar when I noticed a fellow loner a few seats down. After a few awkward glances to each other, he came over and asked me to join him for dinner. I got a non-creepy vibe so I obliged. YAY A FRIEND! We chatted the remainder of the evening and genuinely enjoyed each others company. He picked up my check and dropped me off at my hotel on his way to the airport, as he had a red-eye back to NYC. I love friendly people! Anyways, short story over. The food here is amazing. You gotta try their miso-marinated sea bass, it’s out of this world.
^Last night in town.
Lunch: Tablaeu at the Wynn. It’s a beautiful bright restaurant next to the pool and you can dine inside or out. It was a beautiful day when I went, so I decided to sit outside and enjoy their flight of cold-pressed veggie juices.
Breakfast/Brunch: Bouchon in the Venetian. Bouchon is a beautiful French restaurant with options ranging from omelets, gourmet-salads and brioche French toast (with vanilla custard & caramelized apples). Whatever you decide on, rest assured that everything is amaze.
^Garden Salad with warm goat cheese//strawberries & cream//mimosa.
OK I could talk all day about the amazing food, I’m well aware that I was obese in a past life. Now let’s get down to business…
WWD MAGIC- The Magic Tradeshow is held twice a year at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Just to paint a pretty little picture real quick, imagine thousands of incredible brands all under one roof, with samples of their clothing for the entire year and price tags that make your heart drop (wholesale pricing) AKA EVERY GIRLS DREAM.
^ This is just ONE room, times this by 10.
Being a buyer is bitter sweet. Sweet because well, exactly what I mentioned above. Bitter because I literally cannot buy retail now after knowing the wholesale prices. That’s one of the reasons I launched Hot Pink Hanger… I wanted all these great brands with appropriate pricing, and that’s just what I have. I can honesty say I have one of the LOWEST markups around. That’s not a phony sales pitch on my store, it’s just a fact. How? I have very low overhead unlike other boutiques with multiple employees… so I don’t need to jack up the costs to cover expenses.
Anyways, back to the show. If ya’ll have never experienced sore forearms before (get your mind out of the gutter) try sifting through clothes for 10 hours straight. TEN. One-Zero.
I never thought shopping could be so emotionally and physically draining but spoiler alert, it can be.
I’m not complaining though because I picked out the CUUUTEST FREAKIN’ STUFF. I am seriously pumped about the clothes & accessories I got for ya’ll. I handpick each and every item to ensure quality and desirability, and there’s not one thing I purchased that I wasn’t obsessed with. I mean, not to ding my own bell or anything, but almost every wholesaler said the stuff I picked out were their best sellers. NBD.
*ding ding* <-- my bell
(^Beautiful bright Spring floral prints)
(^Swarovski crystal rings)
(^Dainty gold jewelry gives me butterflies. Normal? Probably not.)
(^C. Luce is one of my favorite lines. Amazing quality.)
(^Ark & Co. is another favorite line... Expensive, but worth it.)
(Lace was everywhere. How darling are these shorts!?)
^Selfishly picked this necklace set out for myself, but got a few extra for you guys :)
(MAXI'S! I live in maxi's. The black maxi here is backless and I'm sorta kinda in love.)
Anyways, I wanted to give ya’ll a sneak peak into my not-so-Sinful City trip. Sorrry I know it was a little lengthy, but it’s hard to abbreviate Vegas!
For those still reading, you’re awesome and we should probably be friends. <3
I've been to Vegas multiple times, if you're going and want further recommendations or if you need a hookup for the nightlife, let me know! :)
Anyone else been to Vegas before? What are your fav hotels/restaurants!?
